Launching Rocket Moguls

2026-06-09 · 4 min read · The Rocket Moguls Team

Today we are launching Rocket Moguls, a free arcade game about the most absurd race in modern history: a handful of billionaires lighting fortunes on fire to be the first one off the planet. You play it in your browser, no download, no account required to jump in, and it runs on real-time WebGPU rendering. Strap in.

The pitch

Rocket Moguls is a map race. You are a billionaire with a home base on a world map, and so are four rival moguls. The whole board is dotted with launch pads, and the goal is dead simple: launch more rockets than anyone else before the timer hits zero.

Here is the loop. Every pad you control earns you cash every second. You spend that cash two ways: launching rockets (hold the pointer and sweep across your pads to fire them in a blur) or claiming new pads (tap a gray one to flip it to your color). Every pad you take grows your income and gives you another place to launch from, so the game becomes a constant tug of war between expanding your empire and just hammering out launches right now. Meanwhile the four AI rivals are doing the exact same thing, grabbing territory and racking up launches, and the live standings make the pressure real.

There is a single number that matters at the end: how many rockets you launched. Beat your best, then go beat everyone else's. Every race posts to a live leaderboard, so you are never just playing against the AI. You are playing against the whole roster of moguls and the people behind them.

Five moguls, five completely different races

The heart of the game is the roster. Each mogul is a loving parody, and more importantly, each one actually plays differently. The stats are not cosmetic.

  • Elon Tusk (SpaceY) wants to occupy the sky or die trying. His Falcon Barrage fires every pad you own at once, so the more territory you hold, the harder he hits.
  • Jett Bezzo (Blue Horizon) promises same-day delivery to low Earth orbit. He has the strongest income on the roster, and Prime Delivery can claim every neutral pad left on the map in a single tap.
  • Rich Branston (Virgin Cosmic) just wants to make the launch a spectacle. Galactic Boost collapses every cooldown so a quick sweep across your pads erupts into a launch storm.
  • Bill Grates (MicroLaunch) asks if you have tried automating it. The cheapest expansion on the board lets him sprawl fast, and Auto-Patch runs all his pads hands-free.
  • Mark Zuckerbird (MetaOrbital) is building the metaverse, one orbit at a time. Metaverse Mode doubles every single launch, turning a hot streak into an avalanche.

Income, launch cadence, expansion cost, and aggression are tuned per mogul, so finding the one that matches your style is half the fun. The other half is mastering a second one to chase a different leaderboard.

Built on WebGPU, runs anywhere

We are proud of the tech under the hood, but you should never have to think about it. Rocket Moguls renders in real time with WebGPU, the modern browser graphics standard, which is what lets us push the launch trails, the claim bursts, and the smooth motion without a clunky download or a plugin. On hardware or browsers that do not have WebGPU yet, the game automatically falls back to a Canvas2D renderer so it still runs. Open a link, start playing, no setup, no excuses.

This launch is also a bit of a devlog moment for us. Getting a real-time renderer to feel good in a browser, keeping the claim-versus-launch tension sharp, and balancing five moguls so none of them is strictly the best took a lot of tuning passes. We think the result holds up. Now we want to see what you do with it.

What is next

This is the launch, not the finish line. We are already working on tournaments, timed events where everyone races the same map for a shared top spot, and we want to grow the roster with more moguls (and more abilities that change how a race feels). Leaderboard seasons, new map layouts, and deeper stats are all on the table.

So go set a number worth beating. We will be watching the board, and we will be raising the bar right alongside you. See you on the map.
